The sun of my life!!!

"A good and healthy flower with a thing to take care of it. The Sun. Mothers are like the sun....like you!"

Awwwww!

The moment.
I caught it and tucked it away.
To take out on a cold, lonely day.
I ran to my (amused) hubby.
I was all bubbly.
I called my mom.
A song in my bosom...

For my son had just scribbled those words on a card he had made for me. To be honest...it was followed by a rather suspicious "Thank you for the match attax" (that's his latest soccer trading card craze and I had just gotten him a pack!)

Well, so what? I just ignored the most probable incentive behind the poetic outpouring and went back to my sighing! For it's rarely that a flower thanks the sun...

  1. This was touchy. Moments like these are truly fulfilling as a Mom, I guess.
Very poetic analogy of flower and sun. Looks like the property of inheritance holds good always :).

  2. awwwwwww....
    That was so so sweet...
Forget the intent. He could have just hugged you and said thank you or I love you, couldn't he? But, he thought of that lovely comparison. So savour the moment for what it is - love and love only.
    :)

  3. Yes Dash, this is one of those special moments that make it all worth it...one of those moments i want to freeze in time :) And yes, Sohan does have a way with words...i kept sighing for quite sometime after that :)

Rekz, I agree, inspite of my dear spouse's comment to my son, "keep doing these things...it makes amma happy" grrrr...

  5. Lucky that your son acknowledges the sun 'coz moms, like the sun and the moon are often taken for granted.

Congrats to the mom who inspired the son and to the son for his wonderful imagination!

  6. so....swee....t

the norm : mothers deify sons into suns who later on transform into puppets dancing to....so catch the moment & enjoy it..

Still I've a dream, this kid is sure to be your soul mate, more than any daughter....some dreams do come true! Relax, cheer up..and dream! A typical old Indian mom.

  7. Yes Rekz, aren't they lovely?

Dear anonymous, I agree....nothing can be more taken for granted than suns, moons and moms!

Dear typical old Indian mom, "catch the moment" i love that! As for the dream about soul-mates, well, I don't know....i am more in the "catch the moment" camp before they turn into puppets or anything else :)

Yes,mothers deify sons into suns who later on transform into puppets dancing to - Very true old Indian mom. But some mothers never understand and realise that they do play a big role in this change.Hmmmm poor sons....

  10. Yes Archie, but considering all the mom-son stuff going around, I'd rather duck and leave D to do all the fielding...gosh! aren't I terrified of "growing up"?

Thanks for dropping by, Hemant! I suppose, only when life comes around one full circle can everyone see everyone's else's point of view :)

  11. Think of a boy writing that... Girls, mebbe. But boys...that is really so sweet!!!!

  12. Wonder how much you have loved and inspired your son for him to make such a positive comparison! The comment made by your spouse is actually thought provoking - if only sons continue to do this after growing up, typical old moms would do more "catch the moment" campaign and the puppet act would be ignored to a great extent!

  13. You made a wise decision, that you would rather duck and allow your spouse to do the fielding.I guess, you were able to predict your future - life comes around in one full circle in everyone's life.

  15. Yes indeed, Pallavi!

Vanitha, I agree...if only sons would continue to do this :) Now N has also started on a lot of soul-ly stuff...God knows for how long...so these days, I am busy catching moments...

    Thank you, anonymous!

Though, mom's lines came nowhere near the son's, Shail!
